Why should my email use my domain name?

It is very important to have email service with your domain extension. This conveys a polished and professional image and helps with your overall branding. In addition, for privacy reasons, it is never a good idea to give out your personal email address for work.

What email services does iHealthSpot provide?

Our email service is designed to give you a basic service level that provides email, basic webmail, emails on your PDA, and email anti-virus. The number of email addresses depends on your hosting level and is included in your monthly hosting. Email addresses range from 3-15 depending on the hosting level you select. Each mailbox will have a quota of 10MB, so we encourage the use of email clients (e.g. MS Outlook) that download your messages from our server periodically. However, it is very important to understand that we do not support your email on your workstations nor do we configure it for you. This must be done by your IT provider for your practice. We do send a detailed guide on how to set up your email and are happy to answer questions by phone. For your convenience, our servers support any email client that supports SMTP/POP3/IMAP.

Email retention and backup

The email service we offer is basic and as such we DO NOT keep backups of your emails for more than a day or two after receipt. Also we automatically delete any emails in your INBOX that are older than 6 months. We also purge sent items after 30 days and deleted items after 1 day.

All of these rules are in place in order to be able to offer a free or low cost email alternative for all our clients in an efficient and secure manner.

However, we realize these are limiting features and you can overcome these limitations in one of two ways:

1. Upgrade to Full Featured Email Service.

2. BACKUP YOUR OWN EMAIL to your local computer on a regular basis using MS Outlook or another email client.

What if I want to upgrade my email service?

If you require a large number of email accounts and want more advanced features such as “push” email for your PDA, Email Anti Spam, or a shared calendar there are many third party email providers available. They will all have varying plans and packages to meet your needs and budget. We recommend you do a Google search for "email hosting" and go from there. One company we have used that we like is AppRiver and you can check them out at AppRiver

Can I host my own email?

If you have your own email server and in-house resources to manage it for you, you can host your own email. We will work with you to insure that we only control the records for your website and not your email.
