SEM means “Search Engine Marketing”. Is part of the larger “Internet Marketing” task which includes
- SEO = Search Engine Optimization
- PPC = Pay per click
Search engines like Yahoo, Google help users find websites. Your website will come up on a search engine depending how good your
SEO is.
Search Engines will return two types of results (SER):
- Organic Results: The result of keyword indexing and matching against a user’s search.
- Local Results: A local search is one where the SE “thinks” the user is searching for a website (or content) in a region. Some SEs support “yellow page” like listings for local searches.
PPC (Pay-Per-Click): The advertisers that have paid to appear under certain keywords.
